Electoral College Quiz is a typing drill on one number per state, its electoral vote total. Fifteen states per round, no multiple choice to fall back on, and a run takes roughly two minutes.

How to play

Press Start and a state name appears. Type its electoral vote count as a figure and press Enter, or use the Submit button. A correct number scores a point. A wrong number costs one of three lives and the right answer is shown before the next state. Skip also costs a life, so use it only when you would otherwise burn time. Fifteen states are drawn at random from all 50, there is no clock, and the final score converts to stars at 90, 60 and 30 percent. Best score and streak stay in your browser.

Learn the clusters, not the states

Because the answer is a number, the fast route is memorising which states share a total. Every state gets two senators plus at least one representative, which is why 3 is the floor and six states sit on it. If a small state is not on the 3 list, 4 is the next best guess and covers seven more.

Electoral votes by state

These totals come from the reapportionment that followed the 2020 census and govern the 2024 and 2028 elections. Texas gained two seats in that round, Colorado, Florida, Montana, North Carolina and Oregon gained one each, and California lost a seat for the first time since it joined the Union. A state's total is always its House delegation plus its two senators, so Wyoming's 3 means a single representative.
